Pick Glasp if
If you want to highlight PDFs, YouTube videos and Kindle books in one place, see what other readers marked on a page, or highlight from your phone, Glasp does more as a highlighter, and its free plan has no cap on public highlights.
Write notes next to the page you're reading, clip quotes with their link, cite the page in APA, MLA or Chicago, and highlight any article in five colors, all from the Chrome side panel. Your notes stay in your browser unless you choose to sync them. The same subscription also covers the PDF editor, screenshots, short links and text templates you'd otherwise pay for one by one.

On its own, Glasp may well cost less than Pagewing. Pagewing pays off when it replaces several apps. Tick the ones you pay for and put in what you pay.
Filled in with each app's published US price for one person, billed monthly where it's offered, as of October 2026. Change any amount to what you actually pay.

If you want to highlight PDFs, YouTube videos and Kindle books in one place, see what other readers marked on a page, or highlight from your phone, Glasp does more as a highlighter, and its free plan has no cap on public highlights.
If you want your reading notes private, Pagewing keeps them in your browser by default and only puts them in your account when you turn on sync. You get a Markdown editor with checklists, folders, tags and pins, quotes clipped with their link, citations in APA, MLA or Chicago with a bibliography for school, and exports to Obsidian, Notion and Markdown on every plan. Highlighting any page in five colors comes with the Read later tool in the same side panel, and you don't pay for a highlighter on its own.
Checked against Glasp's own pages in October 2026. Plans and features change: check there before you decide. Weighing more than these two? See the best web highlighter and notes extensions for chrome.

Glasp's free plan covers public highlights with no cap, and its Pro plan, which adds private highlights and higher AI limits, costs $15 a month billed monthly. Pagewing's notes and highlights work on its free plan with a cap on notes, and Premium removes it along with the limits of every other tool, so it pays off when you also pay for a PDF editor, a screenshot tool or a link shortener. Use the calculator above with what you actually pay.
Yes. Notes are kept in your browser and nobody else sees them. If you turn on "Sync notes to your Pagewing account", they're kept in your account so every browser you sign in to has them, and you can delete them all from the account page at any time. Highlights made with Read later are saved to your account and are private to you. Glasp's highlights are public by default; keeping them private needs its Pro plan.
Yes, with the Read later tool in the same side panel. Select text on any page and pick one of five colors; your highlights show again when you come back, and the Highlights view on the website lists them all. Notes on highlights, tags and search inside article text come with Premium. Highlighting PDFs and YouTube videos isn't available.
Yes. Send to Obsidian creates the note in your vault with its dates, tags, source page and author as properties. For Notion, export a CSV and import it as a database. Any note, or all of them as a backup, exports as Markdown on every plan; a .zip of Markdown files for a whole vault comes with Premium. A live sync with Notion isn't available.
Yes, free. Cite reads the page's author, title, site and publish date and formats them in APA 7, MLA 9 or Chicago. You can fix any detail, copy the citation with its italics, add it to the note, or make a bibliography of a folder on the website to copy or download as BibTeX.
Not directly. The notes page imports Markdown and text files, so a Markdown export from Glasp comes in as notes, one file each, and Google Keep imports come with Premium. There's no importer that reads Glasp's own format.
No. Pagewing is a Chrome extension with a website for the full editor, and there are no iOS or Android apps. Glasp has both.
Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like share links, PDF signatures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds Office conversions, bookmark cleanups and AI summaries and branding for recordings on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
Every tool works on the free plan, so run it next to what you have now, then keep the subscriptions you still need.
