Pagewing vs Epic Pen

Paying for Epic Pen and more?
One subscription covers the stack.

Draw, highlight and point on any web page from the Chrome side panel, keep your marks on that page for next time, and turn the page into a screenshot or a PDF with the marks on it. Epic Pen is a desktop app for Windows that inks over any window, not a browser extension, so the two overlap on web pages only. The same subscription also covers the PDF editor, screenshots, short links and text templates you'd otherwise pay for one by one.

Pick Epic Pen if

If you need to draw over slides, a video call, a game or any desktop app, not only web pages, Epic Pen does that and Pagewing can't. Its whiteboard, blackboard and fading ink suit live presentations.

Is Pagewing cheaper than Epic Pen?

Epic Pen Basic is free with in-app promotions, and Epic Pen Pro is a subscription whose price its pricing page shows in your local currency. Pagewing's page marker is free with saved marks on 10 pages, and Premium removes that cap along with the limits of every other tool, so it pays off when you also pay for a PDF editor, a screenshot tool or a link shortener. Use the calculator above with what you actually pay.

Is Epic Pen a Chrome extension?

No. Epic Pen is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 that puts a layer of ink over the whole screen, so it works over any program. Pagewing is a Chrome extension: its page marker draws over the web page in the tab, in Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS, and can't draw over other apps.

Do my marks stay when I come back to a page?

Yes. Each page's marks are kept in the extension's database on your device and drawn again when the page loads, if you keep that setting on. The side panel lists every marked page with search, and you can open one, delete many at once with undo, or export and import them as JSON. The free plan keeps marks on 10 pages; Premium has no cap.

Can I screenshot or save what I drew?

Yes. The toolbar's camera button captures the visible area, the full page or an area you drag, with your marks on it, and opens the capture in Pagewing's screenshot editor. Save as PDF captures the whole page with its marks and downloads it as a PDF with the page's address and date stamped on it.

Can I keep scrolling and clicking while my marks stay?

Yes. The "use the page" tool leaves the marks in place while your clicks go through to the page. Marks sit in page coordinates, so they scroll with the content, and while the page is open each mark holds on to the element under it and moves with it when a feed loads more posts above.

Is my drawing uploaded anywhere?

No. Marks, with the page's address and title, are kept in the extension's database on your device and never sent to our servers. A screenshot you take of them goes to the screenshot editor like any other capture, and a PDF goes straight to your Downloads folder.

Does it work with a pen or on a touchscreen?

Yes. The marker takes mouse, pen and touch input, and Shift snaps lines and shapes. Epic Pen lists pen pressure and multi-touch among its features.

Is Pagewing free?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like share links, PDF signatures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds Office conversions, bookmark cleanups and AI summaries and branding for recordings on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
