Pagewing vs Freedom

Paying for Freedom and more?
One subscription covers the stack.

Block the sites that pull you away, with a calm pause screen that asks before it blocks, weekly schedules, daily allowances and strict sessions you can't skip. Focus mode is free on every Pagewing plan, and the subscription that removes the other tools' limits also covers the screen recorder, PDF editor, screenshots and short links you'd otherwise pay for one by one.

Pick Freedom if

If your distractions are apps as much as websites, or you want the same block on your phone, your laptop and your desktop at once, Freedom covers every device and can shut off the whole internet; Pagewing blocks sites in Chrome only.

Questions

Is Pagewing cheaper than Freedom?

For blocking sites in Chrome, Pagewing costs nothing: Focus mode, its schedules, allowances and strict sessions are free on every plan, with no card. Freedom has a free plan too, but its schedules, recurring sessions and Locked Mode are on Premium, which costs $8.99 a month billed monthly or $3.33 a month billed yearly, and there's a one-time Forever license. Pagewing's paid plans are for the other tools in the side panel; use the calculator above with the apps you actually pay for.

Can Pagewing block apps or the whole internet, like Freedom?

No. Pagewing is a Chrome extension, so it blocks websites and sections of websites in Chrome. It can't block desktop or phone apps or cut off the internet. If that's what you need, Freedom is the right tool, and it runs on Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and Chromebook.

Can I block a site only during work hours?

Yes. Each block set has its own weekly schedule, so the sites in it are paused only during those hours, and a daily or hourly allowance on top if you want some time on them. Evenings and work hours can block different sites. In Freedom, scheduled and recurring sessions are a Premium feature.

Can I lock myself out so I can't just turn it off?

Yes. A strict session can't be skipped until it ends, and you can make turning focus mode off take a typed code or a wait. Freedom does this with Locked Mode on its Premium plan.

What happens when I open a blocked site?

Pagewing shows a calm pause screen first. You can take a breath, type what you came to do or say how you feel, then go back or continue for a set number of minutes, unless the session is strict. Your stats show how often you turned back instead of scrolling.

Does Pagewing see my browsing?

No. The addresses you visit are checked against your lists on your device and never sent anywhere. Only daily counts of the sites focus mode paused go to your account, for your stats, and we never sell your browsing.

Can I bring my block list from another blocker?

Yes. Pagewing reads LeechBlock NG's exported options, block sets with their times and time limits included, and the list you copy from BlockSite's own page. Freedom doesn't document an export, so a Freedom blocklist is retyped: paste the addresses into a list, or start from a starter pack.

Is Pagewing free?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like share links, PDF signatures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds Office conversions, bookmark cleanups and AI summaries and branding for recordings on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
