The best website blocker extensions for Chrome
Pick Freedom if you need the same block on your phone and your desktop apps as well as in Chrome; its schedules and Locked Mode are on Premium at $8.99 a month billed monthly. Pick LeechBlock NG if you want a free blocker with detailed rules like wildcards and time limits per hour. Pick Pagewing if you want a free Chrome blocker with a pause screen, schedules, daily allowances and strict sessions next to your other browser tools. Cold Turkey is the hardest lock on a Windows or Mac desktop, BlockSite the most common pick for a quick list, and Forest the one that makes focus a game.

Questions
Something else? Write to us from the Support link below.
Is there a good free website blocker for Chrome?
Yes, several. LeechBlock NG and StayFocusd are free with no paid plan, and Pagewing's Focus mode is free on every plan, schedules, allowances and strict sessions included. Freedom and BlockSite have free versions but keep schedules and locked sessions for their paid plans.
Which blocker is hardest to turn off?
Cold Turkey's locks on a desktop and Freedom's Locked Mode can't be lifted until the session ends, and they work outside the browser. In Chrome alone, StayFocusd's Nuclear Option, LeechBlock's lockdown and Pagewing's strict sessions all hold until their time is up; Pagewing also makes turning the blocker off take a typed code or a wait.
Can a Chrome extension block apps on my computer?
No. An extension only sees what happens in Chrome. To block desktop apps you need a program that runs on the computer, such as Freedom or Cold Turkey, and to block apps on your phone you need Freedom's, BlockSite's or Forest's phone apps.
Which blocker lets me set a daily time limit instead of a full block?
StayFocusd is built around a daily budget, LeechBlock NG sets time limits per hour or per day inside a window, and Pagewing gives each block set a daily or hourly allowance, like 30 minutes of video a day. Freedom and Cold Turkey work in sessions, and Cold Turkey Pro adds allowances.
Can I move my block list to another blocker?
Partly. LeechBlock NG exports its options to a text file, and Pagewing imports that file with each block set's times and limits. BlockSite and Freedom don't document an export, so a BlockSite list is copied from its page and pasted, and a Freedom list is retyped.
Is Pagewing free?
Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like share links, PDF signatures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds Office conversions, bookmark cleanups and AI summaries and branding for recordings on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
