Switching from Google Tasks

Bring your Google Tasks over as reminders.
One subscription for the whole stack.

Download your tasks with Google Takeout, drop the file into Pagewing, and every task with a date becomes a reminder that pops up in Chrome, even with the side panel closed, and lands in your email too on Premium. Reminders are one tool in a side panel that also has a screen recorder, a PDF editor and short links.

Every tool has a free planImporting is free, with no cap on remindersPremium from $20/month, no free-plan limits

Who it's for

Made for you if…

  • You keep tasks in Google Tasks but miss them, because nothing pops up while you work in Chrome.
  • You want a reminder at a set time, with snooze, and by email if you like.
  • You pay for several browser tools and want one subscription.
Bring your data

Move from Google Tasks to Pagewing

Each list becomes a list, and each task with a date becomes a reminder on that day, with its notes and links.

  1. Go to takeout.google.com, click Deselect all, then tick Tasks.
  2. Click Next step, then Create export. Google emails you a link to the .zip when it's ready.
  3. In Pagewing, open Reminders on the web, press Import, choose Google Tasks and drop the .zip as it is.
  4. Choose what happens to tasks without a date, check the preview, then import.

What comes over

  • Lists, as lists
  • Due dates, at your morning time on the day
  • Notes, links and parent tasks, in the reminder's notes

What doesn't

  • Times of day: Google's export only has the day, so each task rings at your morning time, which you can change before importing
  • Repeats: the export doesn't say which tasks repeat, so set those again in Pagewing
  • Completed and deleted tasks
Import from Google Tasks You'll see what comes over before anything is added.
What to expect

Reminders in Pagewing, next to Google Tasks

Where Pagewing is as good or better, and where it's different. Where Google Tasks does more, we say so.

Different

  • Google Tasks is free, and so are Pagewing's reminders, with no cap. Pagewing pays off when it replaces several paid apps.
  • No phone app: reminders come in Chrome on your computer, and by email on Premium.
  • Pagewing's reminders aren't inside Gmail or Google Calendar: they have their own page on the web and in the side panel.

Why do my tasks all ring at the same time of day?

Google's export only has the day a task is due, not the time. Each one rings at your morning time on that day; change the morning time in Reminders settings before you import to pick another.

What about tasks without a date?

You choose: give them tomorrow morning as their time, or leave them out.

Is there a limit?

The free plan has no cap on reminders. An account holds up to 2,000, and the importer brings in the ones that fit.

Is Pagewing free?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like share links, PDF signatures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds Office conversions and bookmark cleanups on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
